The Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades began in 1995, when it was rumoured that the township of Wilmot was going to sell old fire trucks. These trucks had been purchased by the township, used in the fire service, retired, and stored. A group of seven former Baden firefighters began an effort to keep the trucks in Wilmot.

There are currently 52 members of the Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades (WHFB) which include firefighters, former firefighters and others interested in preserving the history of firefighting in Wilmot. They reside in Wilmot Township, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Ottawa, Toronto, North Bay, S. Burlington Vermont, USA and numerous other municipalities.
